뇌전증(간질)이 있는 수유모와 모유수유, Nursing mothers and breastfeeding with epilepsy

간질 종류에는 여러 가지가 있다.
간질 종류와 간질 증세에 따라 간질을 앓는 산모가 모유수유를 할 수 있는지 없는지 의사가 결정해야 한다.
일반적으로 잘 치료된 간질을 앓는 엄마는 모유수유로 아기를 잘 키울 수 있다.
대부분의 간질을 치료하는 약물의 성분은 모유 속으로 분비될 수 있지만 모유를 먹는 아기에게 건강상 큰 지장을 주지 않는 것이 보통이다.
간질이 있는 엄마가 모유수유로 아기를 양육하고 싶을 때는 정말로 모유를 수유해 아기를 키우는 것이 가장 좋은 방법인지, 간질을 치료하는데 쓰는 약물이 젖 먹는 아기에게 어떤 영향을 줄 수 있는지 의사에게 문의해서 모유수유로 아기를 키울 것인지, 인공영양으로 아기를 키울 것인지 결정해야 한다.
간질의 종류와 정도에 관계없이 적어도 모유수유를 얼마동안 해보는 것은 아주 좋은 생각이다.

There are several types of epilepsy.

Depending on the type of epilepsy and the symptoms of epilepsy, the doctor should decide whether or not a mother with epilepsy can breastfeed. In general, mothers with well-treated epilepsy can raise their babies well by breastfeeding.

The components of most epilepsy drugs can be secreted into breast milk, but they usually do not cause significant health problems for breastfed babies.

When a mother with epilepsy wants to breastfeed her baby, ask her doctor if breastfeeding is really the best way to raise her baby, and how drugs used to treat epilepsy might affect the breastfed baby. You have to decide whether to raise your baby by breastfeeding or by artificial nutrition.

Regardless of the type and severity of epilepsy, it’s a good idea to at least breastfeed for some time.
